The Museum for Building Culture (MUBA for short) focuses on the scientific study of building history over the last 200 years, and specifically the history of the Neutal chimney and stove masons. Their reputation extended far beyond the country's borders; in their honor, the symbol of a chimney even adorns the town's coat of arms. The Neutal construction workers once set out to conquer the world with their sought-after craftsmanship: buildings from Vienna's Ringstraße to New York still bear witness to their extraordinary skill. The expertise of these in-demand craftsmen was passed down from generation to generation and not only represented an important economic livelihood – through the many associated travels, it also shaped the open-mindedness of the population. At MUBA, retired furnace masons pass on their knowledge to visitors. Tools and equipment, such as the special wooden shoes or the "Molotov" hammer, pictures, and video sequences provide insights into the daily life of the craftsmen. Outside, visitors can also admire display masonry and a replica of an industrial chimney. To ensure that even young museum guests get their money's worth, there are special, child-friendly themed tours where participation is encouraged – for example, by jointly making a clay brick.Open from April to October (also on public holidays) A visit is possible all year round by telephone appointment.
