Mercedessternbrücke Bad Aussee

Following the sound of the water If you follow the gentle murmur of the water in the Kurpark, you will reach the confluence of the Grundlseer Traun and Altausseer Traun. This is spanned by an imposing pedestrian bridge: the ring-shaped Mercedessternbrücke, which elegantly hovers over the water. Almost hidden from the ground, the clear shape of the world's largest Mercedes star only reveals itself from the air. Designed in a ring shape, it connects the three banks and thus creates short, pleasant paths between the various attractions on the edges of the waters. A star at the center Bad Aussee is not only a true heart for all those connected to the Ausseerland, because in 1949 the spa town was determined to be the actual center of Austria in a competition held by the "Große Österreich Illustrierte". 16 years after the erection of the Mittelpunktstein (center stone), a stone monument by the sculptor Erich Laufer, the Mercedessternbrücke was also realized in the heart of Austria. It was built in 2005 on the occasion of the Styrian Provincial Exhibition "Narren und Visionäre – mit einer Prise Salz" (Fools and Visionaries – with a pinch of salt). Conceived together with Daimler-Chrysler AG and Mercedes-Benz, the structure in the shape of a Mercedes star has since hovered over the confluence of the Altausseer Traun and Grundlseer Traun, connecting the three bank areas at the edge of the Kurpark. Right through the middle There is plenty to discover around the center of Austria. Carried by the relaxing sounds of the rushing water, you can follow the movement of the water and discover the highlights of each bank. Strolling a round through the picturesque Kurpark, visitors can view the Mittelpunktstein made of Fludergraben marble, or admire the impressive statue of Archduke Johann. Ideal for families and children, on the opposite bank is the Kurpark children's playground with some highlights such as a climbing wall, a hammock, and a slide. The directly adjacent Kneipp facility provides relaxation and cooling, offering stimulating moments with Kneipp applications for feet, arms, and knees. Distributed up to the waterfall, visitors can enjoy moments of peace here, surrounded by the sounds of the water. Full of impressions and thoroughly refreshed, a personal souvenir of the visit to the geographical center of Austria now awaits on the third bank of the Mercedessternbrücke. In the Bad Aussee tourist office, the official Mittelpunkt certificate can be issued, thus preserving the memories of a unique day here in the heart of Austria for a long time.
