At the turn of the millennium, a chapel was built on Plattenrain - called the true pulpit of the Tyrolean Oberland by many due to its incomparable panoramic views. An extraordinary place of contemplation was created as a large regional community project. A contemporary sacred space, designed by local artists and architects, built from natural raw materials of the region, rooted with the mountains, the sky and the forests. A place of human and spiritual encounter. The chapel on Plattenrain is a wonderful place to turn inward. For all those who want to escape the noise of time. And it is an inspiring place for the eye and soul. The floor plan was executed in an elliptical shape, with the longitudinal axes aligned in a west-east direction towards the Inn Valley. Above the floor plan, a cone with a height of around 10 m, slightly inclined towards the slope, was erected, its tip being a glass body. The substructure of the chapel was made of exposed concrete by students of HTL Imst with their specialist teachers, the building above it in a modern wooden construction. The antechamber of the Meditation Chapel on Plattenrain is adorned with a sculpture created by the Imst artist LUDWIG SCHNEGG. A TORSO as a symbol for imperfect and suffering humanity. The owner does not wish for yoga sessions or similar, as it is a Catholic chapel. Description for wheelchair users: From the main road, it takes about 10 minutes by car uphill to Plattenrain. At the end of the road, you can park your car in the parking lot near the chapel. Now, an unpaved, short but steep section leads to the chapel. Here, an accompanying person is needed. A steep concrete ramp leads into the chapel itself. From there, you can reach the interior, which is equipped with wood and offers space for sitting and meditating.
