Margarethenkirche in Oberhaus

Particularly noteworthy is the subsidiary church St. Margaretha in Oberhaus, which was rebuilt in 1519 in place of a presumably Romanesque church. During a fire in 1921, the nave vault collapsed and was replaced by a barrel vault in 1927. However, the choir with its remarkable net rib vault and hanging keystone remained intact. The high altar (1695) is attributed to the Schladming sculptor Johann Georg Mohr; the tabernacle was created by Balthasar Prandstätter (1740/45). The interesting "Dragon Pulpit" (1742/43) also comes from him. The Margarethenkirche in Oberhaus gained special significance in the 18th century as a pilgrimage church. Saint Margaretha and the Fourteen Holy Helpers were venerated.
