The Marbacher Linde is the highest elevation in the municipality of Mauthausen! 362 meters above sea level, the highest elevation of the Danube market town stands on the northern border of the market town of Mauthausen: The Marbacher Linde. Looking north, east, and west, you can see the entire lower Mühlviertel up to St. Thomas am Blasenstein. To the south, the entire mountain range stretches from the Ötscher to the Traunstein. In addition, two hiking trails cross at the large linden tree: The North-South Trail from Liebenau to Mauthausen and the Donausteig, which leads from Passau to Grein. For the Mauthauseners, the large tree is also a popular resting place after strenuous circular hikes.
