Mittersill, Salzburg
The Mittersill Cinema "Tonlichtspiele Mittersill" was founded in 1927 by Felix and Theresia Schnöll. At affordable prices, people could escape their everyday worries and enter a world of dreams. This was also reflected in the motto of the film program poster from 1952: "Lichtspiele Mittersill - offer entertainment and diversion." After the cinema was destroyed by the flood of the century in 2005, a decision was made to rebuild it despite limited economic viability. This was done firstly to continue the more than 90-year family tradition and secondly to offer the local population and visitors to the region a cultural venue with a broad spectrum of good films (art house cinema), readings, theater, and music performances.
