Ledererhaus

Gmunden, Upper Austria

The house was first documented in 1588. The owner was Jakob Podn, a tanner. Tanneries were often located on riverbanks, as was the case here. In 1895, master tanner Franz Meingast and his wife Josefine, née Kitzmantel, bought the house, which has been in family ownership ever since. Leather craftsmanship (tannery) until approx. 1900, leather and leather goods trade until 1964. Facade decoration from the late 18th century. Fresco "Maria - Mother of Good Hope". Box windows from the Biedermeier period. More information can be found at Gmundens Schätze!
