Gmunden, Upper Austria
Laudachsee is a frequent destination for hikers and walkers who set out from Grünberg, Gmunden's local mountain, to explore this natural jewel. The lake itself lies in a barely recognizable cirque of an ice-age glacier. Valuable natural areas on and around Laudachsee are primarily the bogs that have formed here. On the one hand, on the northern shore of the lake in the form of a peninsula. Slightly away from the lake, but also in the area of its cirque, is the Laudachmoor, a dwarf pine raised bog with a bog pond. Rare orchid species occur in the area of Laudachsee and the surrounding bog landscape. Laudachsee, which is well-developed with hiking and walking trails, is one of the warmest mountain lakes in Upper Austria and is therefore very popular with bathers in summer. Laudachsee is a small mountain lake beautifully situated between Traunstein and Katzenstein. In summer, it invites you to cool off after a hike. A hiking trail leads around the idyllically situated lake through shady forest, repeatedly offering views of the towering Traunstein. Laudachsee can be reached on foot via many different hiking trails, but also by mountain bike.
