The cross-country ski trails in Ausseerland Salzkammergut stretch along idyllic lakes through picturesque villages and up into the snow-sure mountains. The snow-covered Dachstein massif and the bizarre Totes Gebirge form an enchanting backdrop for your cross-country skiing holiday. The deep blue Altausseer See, the Loser with its unique panoramic cable car, and the romantically snow-covered mountain landscape attract numerous cross-country skiers to Altaussee year after year. But it's not only the perfectly groomed trails that make the region so appealing to many athletes: the diverse winter offerings are also impressive. As one of four cross-country skiing centers in Ausseerland Salzkammergut, Altaussee captivates with its very own winter magic. Due to its altitude, there is a relatively high snow reliability, which often allows the trails to be used well into spring. And so, one glides from hut to hut past one of the most beautiful regions of Styria. In between, the Blaa Alm (mountain pasture) offers an ideal starting point for many other winter activities. No matter whether cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, or an extended winter hike: every athlete will find something fun here. And afterwards, people meet again at the Almhütte (mountain pasture hut) and enjoy good Alm specialties together. Given suitable snow conditions, the following trails are available around Altaussee: Loser-Skiarena to Blaa Alm, Classic & Skating, medium, length 3.63 kilometers, Blaa Alm Loop, Classic & Skating, easy, length 2.06 kilometers, and Blaa Alm - Rettenbach Trail, Classic & Skating, medium, length 3.96 kilometers. Facts about the cross-country skiing region Altaussee is one of four cross-country skiing centers in Ausseerland Salzkammergut and has three trails that pass the Blaa Alm. The altitude in the cross-country skiing region is between 730 and 910 meters. Both skating and classic styles are possible on the trails. Parking is available directly at the trail entrances. The cross-country skiing region has been awarded the Styrian Trail Quality Seal. Equipment rental and cross-country skiing school at Skischule Haim, directly in the Loser Skiarena, thus offering ideal conditions for beginners and ambitious hobby athletes.
