Landschaftsschutzgebiet Altpernstein

The largest part of the area is covered by forests. However, the great richness of various plant and animal species is primarily due to the extensive dry grasslands and other meadow communities. Particularly valuable are the dry grasslands in some extremely steep areas, where numerous orchids grow. In addition to the meadow and forest areas, the protected area also includes a pond with marshlands and even crevice vegetation in the vicinity of the castle. Visitors can reach this natural gem via the access road to the castle or via a hiking trail from Micheldorf. This trail leads directly through the meadow landscape.
