Gmünd in Kärnten, Carinthia

ausstellung

INTERNATIONAL HOUSE OF CRAFTS In the house, you can look over the shoulders of artisans from all over Central Europe as they work. The Artist in Residence program at the Kunsthandwerkshaus brings a number of quality-conscious artisans from all over Central Europe to Gmünd for several months each year. In a unique atmosphere, the public is offered a colorful variety of high-quality crafts. Program 2026: Karin Klimbacher - Utility and Art Ceramics Born in Switzerland, Karin Klimbacher has lived and worked in Carinthia since 1972. From May to September, she moves her studio back to the artists' town of Gmünd. The experienced ceramist specializes in utility and garden ceramics and works primarily with white clay. She uses various firing methods, such as sawdust firing, paper kiln, raku, coke oven, or pit firing. For her, clay is an expressive, flexible material that allows all creative possibilities. The fascination of creating something lasting from the ephemeral through the interplay of earth, water, and fire always encourages the artist to dare new experiments. The move to the spacious corner studio in the Kunsthandwerkshaus (formerly the "Aller-Handwerks-Geschäft" of the Crafts Association) now opens up new possibilities for her ceramic studio 2k. The works of Karim Klimbacher can be seen from early May to the end of September. Tünde Linde Toll - Textile Art, Sheep's Wool and Natural Silk Born in Hungary, Tünde Linde Toll studied art and pedagogy in Vienna and has been experimenting with wool and silk herself since 2004. The artist calls herself a "wool painter" and is always looking for new facets to extract from the material wool, observing how perception can be influenced by it. With her pictures, she wants to create a balance and inspire people to perceive the wool works as a warming space. The works of Tünde Linde Toll can be seen from early May to the end of September. Ruth Rindlisbacher - Fashion Design and Driftwood Works Visit Ruth in her open studio and experience artworks that combine sustainability and creativity! Let yourself be inspired by her "Holztrumm" series: driftwood sculptures that gain character and expression through modeling – unique in Europe! Discover the "fair-Änderungsschneiderei" (fair alteration tailoring), where old and new textile elements merge into colorful unique pieces. And linger at the "Kisten mit Geschichte" (boxes with history), miniature scenes in boxes that invite wonder and reflection. The works of Ruth Rindlisbacher can be seen from early May to the end of September. Opening hours during the exhibitions: Vernissage: FRI, May 15, 2026 at 7 PM May 16 - end of September 2026 daily open from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM Further information HERE Free admission!
