Koppl, Salzburg
In the diverse natural area that Koppl offers, several small moor landscapes, including above all the remains of the Koppler Moor, hold a special position. Various sedge species and heather occur extensively, as do various berry plants and orchids. Among the trees, the silver birch and pine grow on the peaty soil. The mushroom occurrence is rather moderate with about 30 moor-typical species. In the animal world, several rare butterflies and bird species occur. Among small mammals, the least weasel, stoat, and bank vole, among others, have been observed. For a long time, the Koppler Moor, with its unique substance, PEAT, benefited the residents in many ways. That is as good as over. Now it represents an extremely attractive natural area for hikers and nature enthusiasts, albeit one to be treated with care.
