The area around the St. Margarethen quarry is considered by connoisseurs to be one of the most impressive places in eastern Austria. Amidst intact and diverse nature, one can hike wonderfully and get to know the beauty of the landscape and the biodiversity of plants and animals on the Koglberg. The extensive and species-rich dry grassland provides a welcome retreat for numerous animal and plant species that have become rare today. The European ground squirrel, the magnificent emerald lizard, and the praying mantis can be found here, as well as the spring adonis and the dwarf iris. Furthermore, during a hike, the sculpture landscape by international artists can be admired. Additionally, one enjoys the impressive view with a panorama of Austria's largest steppe lake, Lake Neusiedl, all the way to Schneeberg, which definitely makes a trip to the Koglberg worthwhile.
