Ködnitztal

The Hohe Tauern are the roof of Austria. From a fabulous sea of high peaks, the Großglockner, Austria's highest mountain at 3,798 m, rises into the sky. In the Ködnitztal, it is within reach. Mighty ibex, marmots, and golden eagles can be easily observed and, with a bit of luck, photographed directly on the summit structure. But the main protagonist in this impressive scenery is the massive, imposing Großglockner. It can be tackled from here. Passing the Lucknerhütte and Stüdlhütte, one can reach the summit of Austria's highest mountain either via the normal ascent over the Erzherzog-Johann-Hütte or via the more challenging Stüdlgrat.
