Spittal an der Drau, Carinthia
High above the Drautal near Rothenthurn, the climbing garden of the same name is hidden in the forest. Sometimes it is also called "Klettergarten Burgbichl". This is because the massif is only a few hundred meters away from the picturesque Schloss Rothenthurn. Due to the often stepped terrain and the roughly structured rock, the climbing garden is ideal for beginners and families. In addition, the maximum height of approx. 15 meters is also perfect for this target group. On the one hand, it is a really good family climbing garden. On the other hand, it is also very suitable for courses. Speaking of courses! Please note that from May to June, school sports week climbing courses are sometimes held here. In that case, the courses have priority. This is the same as in the Klettergarten Jungfernsprung at Millstätter See. Due to the many trees, the massif is very shady. Therefore, you can still climb well here even in sunny weather. In summer, however, it can still get too hot during the day. In that case, it is advisable to spend the day swimming at Millstätter See. Only in the evening should you stop by for a few leisurely pitches.
