Kirche Stockach

Pastoral care-wise, Stockach always belonged to the mother parish of Elbigenalp, becoming an expositure in 1785. Since 1971, it has been affiliated with the parish of Bach. The expositure church of St. Josef was not built on the site of the first chapel. In 1696, a chapel with a license to celebrate Mass was built in Unterstockach, and in 1701, one in Oberstockach. This chapel was enlarged in 1770 and expanded into the church standing today (consecrated in 1782). The exterior is similarly designed to the church in Bach. The nave with the recessed choir with a 3/8 end has no articulation on the exterior. The tower was only built in 1898. The interior shows a wide hall space with rounded corners and a flat barrel vault without architectural-plastic articulation. The vault frescoes extend to the painted entablature, below which painted floral festoons hang. Rococo ornaments are placed above the round-arched windows (restored by E. Schwenniger, Seefeld).
