The medieval church with a Romanesque north tower stands below Vilsegg Castle. A late Gothic choir with a three-eighths apse adjoins the nave, which may also still be Romanesque in its core. The high altar painting of Saints Joachim and Anna with Mary reading is dated 1756. Vilsegg Castle, the church, and the hammer forge (formerly a weapons forge) form a wonderful ensemble that has always attracted many hikers, not least the Bavarian royal family, who often stayed here with their entourage in the 19th century. The church was supposed to be demolished in 1778, but the citizens managed to prevent this.
