Kirche Bach

Bach, Tyrol

Parish Church Bach The Roman Catholic Parish Church of Our Lady Mary's Purification belongs to the Breitenwang deanery in the Diocese of Innsbruck and is a protected monument along with the cemetery chapel and the war memorial. A chapel was first mentioned in a document in 1668. The church was a filial church of the Elbigenalp parish church and was elevated to an expositure in 1789. The current church was built from 1790 to 1792. The tower was erected in 1807. The church consecration was in 1811. A restoration took place in 1832. The tower clock dates from 1854. After an earthquake (1865), repairs were carried out. During this time, the frescoes by Karl Selb from 1792 were painted over by Johann Kärle. Kärle's frescoes, in turn, were painted over by Toni Kirchmayr in 1929. In 1943, the church was elevated to a parish church. From 1991 to 1994, the church was re-baroquized, and new frescoes were painted by Wolfram Köberl.
