The Romanesque rotunda is consecrated to St. Barbara, patron saint of the dying. The octagonal structure with a pyramid roof and lantern was built in the Gothic period. If space in the surrounding former community cemetery became too tight, the bones from abandoned graves were reinterred in the ossuary. The heavily faded fresco on the south side shows St. Christopher carrying the Christ Child on his shoulders. Above it on the left is the inscription A.E.I.O.U. This motto, which emerged under Emperor FRIEDRICH III, means "Austria Erit In Orbe Ultima (Austria will last forever)". The popular translation "All the world is subject to Austria" is incorrect. To the right of it is the year 148?. The frescoes inside date from around 1260. They were only rediscovered in 1907. The jagged style has its roots in Byzantine art. In the apse, the small semicircular room extended to the east, Christ as the Judge of the World is enthroned in the half-dome. The modern apse window was created in 1981 by Lydia Rappolt. To the left and right of it, a bishop is depicted. On the upper south wall, the Archangel Michael fights with the dragon; below are the apostles, beginning with Paul with his sword, Peter, and John. The triumphal arch in front of the apse shows six doves in round medallions and, at the apex, the Lamb of God with the flag of the Risen One. These 7 medallions stand for, among other things: 7 sacraments, 7 gifts of the Holy Spirit, or for the book with 7 seals. Below them, on the left is Mary and on the right is John the Baptist. On the entrance wall, heavily faded, are recognizable: St. Helena, the mother of Emperor Constantine the Great, with the rediscovered true cross, and on the left, St. Catherine of Alexandria with the sword with which she was killed. Upper north wall: St. Veronica with the face of Christ on the sudarium; to the left of the window: an angel with the instruments of the Passion; below the window: the Flagellation of Christ, one of the tormentors wears a Jewish hat.
