On Kirchbichl in Kaprun stands a very special house: a 400-year-old historic Steiner farmhouse that is under monument protection. This is where the Kaprun Museum is located. Over an area of 140m2, you can stroll through four exciting exhibitions during your visit: learn more about the earliest traces of settlement, trace the footsteps of tourism pioneers, or discover new information about power plant construction. An exhibition dedicated to the development of glacier cable cars is also part of the local history museum. In the adjacent Machlhütte, regularly changing special exhibitions take place. History to touch and taste is available every Friday from spring to autumn. The historic, freestanding oven is used by Bäckerei Katschner to produce bread specialties in the traditional way.
