Kapelle "Zum Aigner Kreuz"

The pilgrimage chapel is located directly next to the ***-Gasthof "Aigner Kreuz", Fam. Aichinger, Tel.: +43 7266 6225, at the entrance to the nature and culture trail "Wolfsschlucht".It is said that Judge Strauß (died 1692) undertook a pilgrimage to Mariazell for his seriously ill wife. Upon his return, his wife met him completely healthy at the spot where the chapel now stands.In gratitude, Strauß had a simple wooden cross erected there.At the beginning of the 18th century, another caretaker found salvation before the cross when his shy horses stopped right there.He therefore built a chapel over the cross.The current building dates from 1852 and houses the cross, an Immaculata (left) and St. Vitus (right) inside.You can reach Bad Kreuzen quickly and easily by car via the Westautobahn A1 coming from Vienna, Salzburg or Passau. Take the Amstetten West exit and then continue to Grein and Bad Kreuzen.By train, travel to Amstetten or Grein. From there, there are regular bus connections to Bad Kreuzen.By plane, fly to Linz or Vienna
