Kapelle Laimach

Kapelle Laimach

Hippach, Tyrol

The Chapel of Laimach is consecrated to the Holy Trinity and was built in 1741. It has a high altar with a painting of the Madonna of the Trinity (circa 1750) and a side altar with statues of St. Joseph and St. Isidor and two late Gothic bishop figures (around 1500). In Laimach is the "Strasserhäusl", the old home of the national singer family Strasser, a well-preserved 18th-century Zillertal farmhouse built entirely of wood. This family of singers was responsible for spreading the song "Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht" (Silent Night, Holy Night) on their travels (see the following excerpt from a brochure by Emil Koschak).
