Kaiserlicher Stall in Grundlsee

Grundlsee, Styria

The Kaiserlicher Stall (Imperial Stable) is located in the Mosern district in the municipality of Grundlsee in Styria. The historic building originally dates from the 16th century and was part of the so-called "Kaiserlich-Hohes Forstärar" (Imperial-High Forestry Estate). It served as a stable and storage building for the fish master at Grundlsee and later for livestock farming by foresters on both sides of the lake. Since 1987, the building has been owned by the municipality of Grundlsee. The Kulturelle Arbeitsgemeinschaft Grundlsee (Cultural Working Group Grundlsee) has been using the Kaiserlicher Stall since 1992 as an event venue for readings, exhibitions, and cultural projects. Thanks to extensive renovation as part of a LEADER project, the historical monument was carefully restored and put to its current use. The Kaiserlicher Stall is only accessible during events. Visitors can expect an architecturally appealing space with an authentic atmosphere, which enables cultural events in the special ambiance of the Ausseerland. Nearby attractions such as the shore of Grundlsee or hiking trails around Mosern are within walking distance and ideally complement a cultural excursion.
