Already at 16, he rode a 50 Spezial and 50 S.Since he always wanted to be a bit different, it was the optimal vehicle at the time, as the Vespa was rather frowned upon back in 1989.At 18, he bought his first “big” 125cc Vespa, which he restored himself in the children's room of an apartment on the 4th floor due to lack of space.Inspired by numerous magazines, the craze really began. The versatility of the models slowly led to a small collection.Since money wasn't plentiful, Thomas could never restore the next scooters, but this turned out to be a stroke of luck today.His collection now includes about 40 Vespa and Lambretta scooters.Through years of browsing various parts markets at home and abroad, many original spare parts, signs, toys, and curiosities also accumulated.The first thoughts of his own museum came to Thomas's mind, but not the immediate implementation, as real estate prices in the area are hardly affordable.Years passed, then in 2024, the time had come! An old carpentry shop in the beautiful Salzkammergut is the right location for the long-held dream of a Vespa museum. When asked why it's called “Josis” Vespa Museum, he replied… that comes from my father, who was named Josef, and I was always Joe's Bua (Joe's boy), this name stuck with me and many friends and acquaintances know me as Joe or Josi.In the museum itself, not only numerous scooters from 1947-1985 but also many detailed items can be admired.A small but fine Vespa museum that will make every Vespa lover's heart beat faster and is definitely worth a visit.The museum can currently be visited by telephone appointment at +43 664 5414511.
