Johanneskirche

The parish church Maria Himmelfahrt is one of the oldest churches in Tyrol, located in the municipality of Pfons on Bronze Age settlement ground. First documented in 1311. Early medieval building from the years 1000 to 1250. Baroque transformation in the years 1754/55 according to the plans of the Viennese court painter Josef Adam Mölk, who also created the ceiling frescoes (except for the choir fresco). The highlight of the interior is the Rococo high altar in the style of Italian column architecture with outstanding white-painted carved figures.
