Infopoint NATURA 2000

On behalf of Director Dr. Gottfried Schindlbauer, Department of Nature Conservation of Upper Austria, prospera Medienproduktion gmbH planned and designed a main exhibition for the Natura 2000 protected area "Upper Danube and Aschach Valley". This unique presentation about "Natura 2000" has found its permanent home in Engelhartszell and was recently opened by Provincial Councillor Dr. Manfred Haimbuchner. In a building next to the Engelhartszell municipal office, which already houses the exhibition "Danube Stories", the "Infopoint Natura 2000" was established as the only one in Upper Austria. The fifteen display cases show animals of the slope and gorge forests in the Upper Danube Valley. Photo foils with a forest motif give the impression that the visitor is in the forest slope themselves. Information about "Natura 2000" is provided via headphones in various languages. A special highlight of the exhibition is a film that was shot partly during a Zille (flat-bottomed boat) trip on the Danube and partly during a paragliding flight over the Danube Valley. Impressive images and impressions from the Danube Valley enchant the viewers. The connecting element of the Natura 2000 protected areas is the Donausteig, which leads through these areas on both banks of the Danube. Therefore, a special area in the exhibition is also dedicated to the Donausteig. A map shows the entire route of the trail and a panorama box displays photos along the way. Immediately in front of the building is the Donausteig starting point of the municipality of Engelhartszell. The exhibition and the Infopoint are supervised by residents of the local Caritas institution invita and are open daily from May 1st to September 30th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. free of charge. By prior arrangement with the municipal office, the exhibition can also be visited outside these opening hours. It is located directly next to the municipal office - in the "Danube Stories" exhibition.
