Heimatmuseum Paarhof Buacher

A 300-year-old Walser house offers insights into the historical life and work of people in the Brandnertal. In addition, the museum illuminates the history of the development of the Rätikon mountains, including its mountain huts and peaks. A place with history: The Paarhof Buacher The museum itself is a testament to lived history: The over 300-year-old Paarhof Buacher is an impressive example of Walser settlement culture in the Brandnertal. Originally located in the Tschapina parcel, the historic property was carefully dismantled between 1991 and 1993 and rebuilt in the village center of Bürserberg, in the Matin parcel. Since its opening in 1993, the building has housed the municipal local history museum. The idea for founding the museum arose during a historical exhibition in the 1980s. The Fritsche family provided their old residential house for this purpose, which was then redesigned with great voluntary commitment. Today, the Paarhof Buacher vividly offers insight into the former life and work of mountain farmers and makes the special construction method and culture of the Walser people tangible. Themes of the permanent exhibition In addition to the special exhibition, the permanent exhibition is dedicated to central aspects of regional history. On display are: old, agriculturally shaped life in Bürserberg, the origin and development of the municipality, the peculiarities of the Schesa mudslide, and the development of the Rätikon mountains, including its huts and peaks. A tour through the museum is not only a journey into the past, but also a lively look at the roots of the region – and at what holds a community together over generations.
