Jerzens, Tyrol
The mill in Ritzenried is one of the oldest and most impressive buildings in the Pitztal. In old land registry documents, a certain Ambrosi Gstrein is already mentioned around 1650 as "Millere zu Riezenriedt" (probable construction period of the mill). For about 300 years, grain was ground in the custom mill for the surrounding farmers, until finally grain cultivation largely disappeared and the milling trade was no longer profitable. In 2013, the municipality of Jerzens bought the old building, thus enabling the urgently needed renovation work. The mill complex, which has been a listed building since 2018, was restored according to the plans of architect Benedikt Gratl.
