Klagenfurt am Wörthersee, Carinthia
The Gustav Mahler Komponierhäuschen (composing hut) is a place for music lovers and a pilgrimage site for admirers of the famous composer. In this small, idyllically located wooden house, Gustav Mahler retreated between 1900 and 1907 during the summer months to compose in peace. Here, some of his most important works were created, including the 4th to 8th symphonies as well as the famous Lied von der Erde. The quiet location, surrounded by nature and with a view of Lake Wörthersee, offered Mahler the inspiration he needed for his creative processes. Today, the Komponierhäuschen is accessible as a museum and gives visitors an insight into Mahler's creative world. A small exhibition with documents, pictures, and information about his life and work brings the atmosphere of that time to life. A visit to the Gustav Mahler Komponierhäuschen is a special experience for those interested in music who want to feel the spirit of the great composer at this historic place.
