The chapel was built in 1919 according to tradition (Gugg family) by Isidor Gugg (former mayor of Mauterndorf) as thanks for his son returning from World War I. The Office of Monuments believes that the chapel was constructed at the end of the 19th century and mentions it as an 'ädikula-Kapelle' in the official record. Artists or craftsmen do not seem to be documented anywhere. The chapel was restored in 2020 by Heinz Michael, a restorer, as part of the building work. The figures are currently undergoing restoration. The chapel, located southwest below the Wolfgangskirche in neo-Gothic style with a rectangular floor plan, is built of masonry with side pilasters and has a gabled roof covered with wooden shingles, a profiled cornice, and a triangular gable. Inside, accessible to one person, there is a pointed-arch wooden niche with a Nazarene group of figures (St. Mary, Joseph, and the Christ Child). The Holy Family dates from the time of construction.
