Gsellmann's World Machine in Edelsbach near Feldbach Symbol of stubbornness par excellence From 1958 to 1981 - a total of 23 years - the farmer Franz Gsellmann from Kaag in Edelsbach near Feldbach tirelessly built his World Machine. Around 2,000 different objects are assembled into a trembling, vibrating, rotating, droning, glowing, and blinking marvel, brought to life by 25 electric motors. Within his own family and in the village, he met with rejection and was ridiculed for it. Shortly before his death, Franz Gsellmann installed a rotating question mark and declared his work complete. For him it was a "dream machine" - that's what he called his marvel - for people it was "nonsense".
