The History Trail through the market town of Lackenbach is designed as a circular hiking trail, with the aim of making the extensive village history accessible to a broad public. The Lackenbach History Trail connects the past with the present and is intended to be an inspiration for the future. The preservation of cultural heritage is as much in focus as the visualization of historical event horizons, because: "The past contains lessons that must bear fruit in the future." Honoré de Balzac, 1799-1850 From the community center, the starting point of the History Trail, one reaches the former center of Lackenbach's Jewish community (Hauptplatz, Brunnengasse, and Schlossgasse). The History Trail in Lackenbach invites visitors to discover the eventful past of the market town – from medieval feudal structures to formative political events such as the Battle of 1620. The focus is on the castle with its garden complex and the Meierhof (manor farm), which impressively illustrate the lives of the nobility and the population. A special focus is on Jewish history and the commemoration of the victims of National Socialism, including Rom:nja and Sinti:zze. The trail makes an important contribution to processing this dark chapter. Further stations illuminate topics such as work, leisure, education, religion, and important personalities from Lackenbach – then as now.
