Mieming, Tyrol
St. George's Church in Obermieming is one of the most beautiful sacred buildings in Mieming. The old church was built around 1071 and at that time belonged to the Hochstift Augsburg. In 1340, according to a document from Stams Abbey, it was rebuilt. In 1995, the landmark of the municipality of Obermieming underwent a general renovation. At the end of the 90s, the Auracher Altar, created around 1710, with a painting of St. George by the Telfs painter Josef Schöpf (1745-1822), was also restored. The church is idyllically situated at the edge of a meadow in Obermieming.
