The area around Micheldorf has been settled since the Neolithic Age. Already during the Hallstatt period (750-400 BC), there was a refuge castle with a double rampart on the Georgenberg.Every two years - always on the Sunday after St. George's Day (April 23) - the Georgiritt takes place.
