Galerie Walker

Nötsch im Gailtal, Carinthia

ausstellungmuseumstour

In 1988, everything began with a small, covered garden gallery in Hermagor/Carinthia. There, away from well-known art venues, Judith Walker, always an art enthusiast, organized her first exhibitions, practically in the open air. The painters Max Weiler and Hans Staudacher were among the first to support this endeavor. Other exciting artists (Reimo Wukounig, Meina Schellander, to name just a few...) joined them at that time, and their diverse projects were motivation enough to seek out other interesting 'playgrounds'. After various guest appearances, for example at Schloss Reifnitz on Lake Wörthersee, at Hollenburg / Köttmannsdorf, or in Klagenfurt, from 1996 onwards, the picturesque Schloss Ebenau in Rosental with its romantically overgrown rose and sculpture garden became a wonderful setting for art, and over the years it also developed into an exciting experimental field for Carolin Walker, who, involved early on in her mother's activities, was able to realize her own, themed exhibitions there. The Renaissance castle of the Walker family, financed by private means but publicly accessible, has become a place of encounter over the years and invites art lovers to linger. This year, the gallery "celebrates" its 30th year in Rosental... Today, in addition to the small summer castle, an Old Rectory in Saak, a few minutes' walk from the Museum des Nötscher Kreises, and a temporarily used art space in Klagenfurt (currently not in use... please understand) are among the art venues of Galerie Walker.
