Friedenskreuz am Oberkaibling

History: In October 1967, the 20-meter-high illuminated metal cross was erected on the initiative of the Kameradschaftsbund (veterans' association) of the Kirchdorf a.d. Krems district as a thank you for the return of many soldiers from World War II. Illuminated, it is visible far into the Upper Austrian Central Region and represents a symbol of peace. Starting from the branch church of Heiligenleithen in Pettenbach, a short hike can also be made along the Friedenskreuzweg (Peace Cross Way) up to the Friedenskreuz (Peace Cross) on Oberkaibling. A nice small Stations of the Cross leads along the side road to the cross! The Friedenskreuz on Oberkaibling in Pettenbach is normally illuminated on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays from dusk until approximately 9:00 PM / 9:30 PM. Additionally, it also lights up in memory of deceased members of the Kameradschaftsbund in the Kirchdorf an der Krems district.
