Franz-Scheikl-Klettersteig

Breitenau am Hochlantsch, Styria

klettern

The via ferrata utilizes gullies and ridges and always traverses slightly uphill to the summit. The most difficult sections are rated C/D, although the difficult exit ridge can be bypassed with an easier variant. After the complete renovation in July 2017, the via ferrata can now also be climbed by sporty families. The nature around the Hochlantsch is also diverse. Strictly protected alpine flowers bloom here, such as the alpine rose, the auricula, the gentian, or the Kohlröschen, a rare orchid species. The area around Hochlantsch and Bärenschützklamm is also particularly known for the impressive ibexes that live here. Ibexes, like chamois, are true climbing artists. An encounter with them is a real nature experience.During the descent, a stop at the "Steirischer Jockl" is recommended, which is widely known for its cuisine. The further path down into the Breitenau then leads past the picturesque pilgrimage chapel "Schüsserlbrunn", which was built directly into the Lantschmauer.A detailed tour description can be found here!
