Formarinsee

At the end of the Zugertal, amidst the Lechquellengebirge, lies the Formarinsee at 1,793 m. This high-mountain lake is of natural origin, forming anew each year from the meltwater of the surrounding mountains. Geographically, the lake is located in the municipality of Dalaas, and can be reached on foot via the StebokWäg from the Klostertal, the Großen Walsertal, and from Lech-Zürs. For those who prefer a more leisurely approach, take the local bus/hiking bus from Lech with line 707 Formarinsee through the Zugertal directly to the Formarinsee. The area around the Formarinsee is very popular with hikers and mountaineers and offers numerous tours with magnificent panoramic views. Access by car to the Formarinsee is only possible via the toll road from the district of Zug. In addition, there is a general driving ban between 08:00 and 16:30, and all day on Wednesdays, however, the local bus/hiking bus (subject to charge) runs regularly during this time. Below the Formarinsee, the Lechweg begins, leading in multi-day stages through the Alps and one of Europe's last wild river landscapes.
