The Raab river landscape begins at the Franz-Josefs-Brücke by the train station in Feldbach and stretches westward to the Rudolfs-Brücke. In the course of hydraulic engineering flood protection measures, the river landscape has been made holistically and sustainably accessible and experienceable. Pure adventure – the settings, the stones, the landscape formations, the water, flora and fauna. It is referred to as a water adventure area with elements of nature, water as a design element for marveling, insight, observation, touching, and feeling. River crossings, path design, seating areas, riverside space directly by the water, a river garden, wave and jumping stones contribute to giving the river area increased public presence. A Raab island and the viewing and event platform at Sigmund-Freud-Platz were also newly created. The riverbank is an excellent place for a picnic. These impulses must be preserved for spatial development, its quality, and its appreciation. The Raab has extraordinary significance as a local recreation area for people, the city, the region, and the Thermen- und Vulkanland Steiermark.
