The association "Freunde der Gmundner Traun" has made it its mission to make the Austrian Traun, with its diverse and characteristic sections, generally accessible for fishing with artificial flies, and to strive to promote and preserve the ecological components (typical fish species, insect world, autochthonous riparian fauna and flora) for posterity. Furthermore, a primary goal is to lease parts of the river (fishing rights), possibly also to purchase them, or to improve the conditions for the above factors through constructive criticism towards the owners. Additionally, it is also planned to lease other waters and, above all, to generally promote and spread the most gentle type of fishing, namely with artificial flies. The association's activity is not profit-oriented. The "Freunde der Gmundner Traun" enable you, as a member, to purchase a season ticket, combination ticket, 8-day ticket, and 6-day ticket, as well as discounted day tickets, for the association's waters "Gmundner Traun" (approx. 14 km of grayling and trout waters). In cooperation with the "Österr. Fischereigesellschaft gegr. 1880", we also offer tickets for the "Steyr-Grünburg" (5.1 km) and for the "Steyr-Pichlern" (3.7 km). Every year, a large member meeting with a lot of information and specialized lectures is organized. You also receive the association's own magazine "Traun-Journal" free of charge, which has already received great recognition in the trade press.
