Rivers and bodies of water are often used by walkers as local recreation areas. This offers an excellent opportunity to introduce the fish species living in the water and to provide information about their way of life using transparent glass panels. Unfortunately, there is often great uncertainty about fish and bodies of water, and knowledge of nature and nature conservation often stops at the water's surface!A key goal is to bring the wildlife in the Danube closer to those interested in fishing, children, young people, and tourists from Austria and abroad in a natural environment. The aim is to awaken and promote visitors' understanding of the sensitive hydrobiological processes in the "fish waters biotop". Ultimately, the necessity of protecting water and nature is also particularly emphasized. The Donauwellen-Weg (Danube Waves Trail) begins at Gasthof Aumüller in Obermühl. An asphalt path leads along the stations located on the river side. The total length is approximately two kilometers in one direction, and the endpoint is again Gasthaus Aumüller. The Danube Fish Nature Trail provides information barrier-free!The theme trail itself is easily accessible by car or directly traversable by bicycle. The stations are easy to reach for people with physical disabilities or parents with strollers. The informative walking trail is a nature experience for young and old."Donauwellen" is a beautiful nature trail along the Danube where the magnificent natural area of the famous Schlögener Schlinge invites you to linger. On the Donauwellen-Weg, typical representatives of Danube fish, such as nase or barbel, are presented. But largely unknown species, such as zingel and streber, which only occur in this part of the beautiful blue Danube, are also discussed. On transparent glass panels, hikers learn, among other things, that these two fish species are highly endangered.Guided tours for school classes and tourist groups are also offered by appointment.Upon prior registration, tasting of various Danube fish and a visit to the Mostkellerei (cider cellar) with tastingFarm-gate sales, cider and juice tasting, game sausages, game meat from the region
