Fischen in Fürstenfeld

Welcome to our FV Angelspass-Oststeiermark page. The fishing area in Fürstenfeld includes all flowing waters in the city area. The Feistritz, the Lafnitz, as well as several side channels and oxbow lakes with a total bank length of approx. 26 km can be fished. The approx. 9 km long Feistritz. The upper limit is approx. 500 meters upstream of the Fürstenfeld outdoor pool. The lower limit is at the Bagdy Mill south of the Fürstenfeld city forest (GPS: 47.01270 North, 16.13119 East). Some short sections may only be fished on the right bank because the Feistritz forms the city limit or provincial border to Burgenland there, and therefore other fishing rights are affected. The width varies from 10 to 20 meters. The riverbanks in the city area are easily accessible in many places. In some sections, parking next to the fishing spot is possible; in other areas, cycle paths run along the river. The lowest 3 - 4 kilometers of the Feistritz, on the edge of the city forest, offer pure nature. The river meanders here completely freely and unregulated, but is only accessible via longer footpaths. The water impresses with its above-average species richness. Not only numerous cyprinid species such as carp (catches 2018 up to 17kg), nase, chub, roach or barbel are native here. In the faster-flowing areas or mill pools, there are good chances for trophy rainbow or brown trout. The entire range of native predatory fish, especially pike and perch, but also zander and catfish, are present. The varied bank and water structures ensure a high natural stock. The fish find countless standing and spawning grounds behind washed-out roots or sunken trees in the backwater areas. Gravel banks in the faster-flowing sections enable natural reproduction of gravel spawners, e.g., nase. The Feistritz in Fürstenfeld is one of the most varied and species-rich flowing stretches in Eastern Styria and also the longest fishing area in the district.
