The symbiosis between riparian forest and water creates a green idyll of tranquility. Submerged trees and aquatic plants, reed areas and water zones offer an ideal habitat for coarse and predatory fish and are the nursery for numerous fish species. The Völkermarkt Reservoir is the artificially dammed Drau with very good water quality. The banks are mostly fortified by dams and predominantly overgrown with willows and alders.
