Fischen am Klopeiner See

From April to mid-November (01.04.-15.11.), Lake Klopein is an experience for every sport fisherman. Only rowing boats are permitted on Lake Klopein. Fish stock: mirror and common carp, grass carp, tench, catfish, pike, zander, eel, whitefish (Renken), perch, chub, sturgeon. Children aged 7-9 years may fish for free with a valid permit from the municipality of St. Kanzian am Klopeiner See, under the supervision of a fully capable person who holds an official fishing license and a valid permit for Lake Klopein, with 1 rod. For young people aged 10-13 years (not yet 14 years old), the youth tariff applies. Fishing may only be carried out under the supervision of a fully capable person (the person does not have to be a fisherman themselves; i.e., they do not need an annual fishing license or guest permit themselves). In addition to the official fishing license, the young person must have a permit for Lake Klopein. Sport fishing may only be carried out by an authorized person with a maximum of two rods or two trolling lines, each with one bait. During the night (from sunset to sunrise), sport fishermen may only fish from the lakeshore. For safety reasons, it is not permitted to fish from boats, from the lakeshore, or from bathing jetties during bathing operations. The use of live vertebrates as bait is prohibited (Carinthian Animal Welfare Act). NOTE! According to the regulation of the Governor of Carinthia, the use of four-stroke reciprocating engines and electric motors on Lake Klopein is prohibited!
