License conditions for Grundlsee PIKE FISHING LICENSES Fishing is permitted in Grundlsee without tributaries and without lake outflow – specifically excluded are the three year-round protected areas "Kinderstube Seeforellen" (Lake Trout Nursery): Protected area 1 - Area of the ÖBf Fischerei boat hut across the lake to the Villa Castiglione boathouse Protected area 2 - Area of the Gößl boat landing stage up to the Wienern bathing hut (entire mouth area of Toplitzbach and Stimitzbach) Protected area 3 - Area 50 meters to the left and right of the Zimitz mouth into Grundlsee These three protected areas were established to rebuild a good lake and brown trout population in Grundlsee. Pike fishing season: May 15 to September 15 Fishing practice: Shore cards For your own safety, pay attention to possible rockfall danger on the south shore in the Ressens area. Pike fishing may be practiced during daylight hours with two fishing rods, each with one hook. Wobblers with treble hooks are permitted. The use of any kind of sonar is not permitted. Only pike, perch, and chub may be caught without restriction on the number. The sale of these is not permitted. The catching of LAKE and BROWN TROUT is prohibited! If any are caught while pike fishing, they must be handled as gently as possible and immediately released. If possible, the hook should be removed in the water, and the trout should not be tormented by unnecessary photography. As bait for pike fishing, all types of spinners and wobblers or dead bait fish (chub and perch – no salmonids) are permitted. Only fish from Grundlsee may be used as bait fish. Bait fish catching is also not permitted in the protected areas. A distance of 50 meters must be maintained from the fishing gear laid out by professional fishermen. A free license is issued for fishing only for perch. This applies only to minors up to the age of 14. Perch fishing may also only take place under the supervision of an accompanying person. There is no minimum catch length for pike fishing. Holders of a season ticket must keep a catch log, which is issued with the license. This must always be carried, and every caught fish that is kept, as well as caught salmonids that must be released, must be entered. For salmonids, an estimated length is sufficient. Perch do not need to be entered. All day or weekly ticket holders must keep catch statistics. Every fish must be entered immediately after being caught.
