The exact origins of the church are lost in the mists of history. A first church is therefore likely to have been built in the 11th/12th century. It remained limited in its dimensions, which is why it was extended in the late 14th to early 15th century. Its current appearance dates back to a renewed extension in the years from 1661. Inside, the church has largely preserved its Baroque furnishings since its consecration in 1698. The high altar features a painting by Michael Waginger, which depicts Saint Bartholomew in the circle of the Fourteen Holy Helpers as well as the apostles Matthew and Matthias. The accompanying figures are by Michael Mayr.
