Filialkirche Aschau in Brandenberg

The church, dedicated to the memory of the Sorrows of Mary, belongs to the Archdiocese of Salzburg. It is a protected monument. The interior of the church was painted in 1852 by Johann Georg Lackner. In the choir, scenes from the life of Jesus and the crucifixion are depicted. The murals in the nave show "Constantine Appears the Cross", the "Transfiguration", "The Brazen Serpent" as a prefiguration of the crucifixion of Christ, and other scenes from the Old Testament. A baroque figural group from the 18th century with the crucifix, the Sorrowful Mother of God, two angels, and Saints John the Evangelist and Mary Magdalene adorns the altar. There are two console statues of Saints Sebastian and Isidore and a figure of the Good Shepherd. The relief of a Pietà dates from the 19th century. The two-story, western extension with a lean-to roof in prolongation of the main roof was built in 1968.
