Apple strudel and cakes at the market square. From the Market Square in Werfen, walk down Tränkstraße towards the river. Pass the shuttle bus parking lot for the Eisriesenwelt buses, on the left, along the river towards the castle, which stands directly in front of you on Burgberg. Before reaching Burgberg, turn right and cross the bridge over the Salzach River. Then continue left, after a few meters, you can see the highway bridge above, turn left and follow trail No. 11 towards Zetzenberg. Now, walk parallel for a good stretch, below the highway embankment. Just before Zetzenberg, go under the highway and through the forest up to Zetzenberg, always following trail No. 11. After about half an hour, turn left again, pass the highway embankment once more, and you can see the first houses of Tenneck. Just before the river, turn sharply right, then left over the large bridge into the town center of Tenneck. Upon arrival, walk a short distance on the left side of the federal road, still following trail No. 11, until you reach the large parking lot. Alternatively, enjoy a short rest in Tenneck, for example at the Gasthaus zum Eisenwerk or at the bakery in the town center. After the large parking lot, turn right towards Maisbauer and from there, ascend through the forest towards Schartenbauer. After a few minutes of walking, you reach the intersection, go straight towards Dielalm on trail 401 (Dielalm closed on Tuesday and Wednesday!), or turn sharply left, staying on trail No. 11, towards Feuersengköpf. Now, walk in a large loop around the transmission mast through the forest towards Riesengut. Shortly after the Riesengut farm, turn left downhill and reach the town center of Werfen in about half an hour on trail No. 11. If you have turned onto Dielalm, you can reach the town center on trail 401 in just under an hour.
