Festung Schlosskopf

In 1703, the reconquest of Ehrenberg began from the Schlosskopf. However, the construction of the fortress, which was completed in 1741 according to the most modern military knowledge, only began in 1733. It was granted only 41 years, during which this mighty fortress never gained significance, until it was abandoned in 1782, like all other structures, and slowly fell into disrepair. The imposing remains still give an idea of the fortress, which was considered impregnable in its time. The new theme trail on the Schlosskopf, for example, opens up all historical fortress elements, which are explained by information boards, and makes the fortress in the Ehrenberg Castle World accessible to people with reduced mobility. The difference in altitude from the Ehrenberger Klause can be comfortably and barrier-free overcome with the two inclined lifts Ehrenberg Liner and Top-Liner.
