Felsenkapelle Außergschlöss

After a devastating fire, in which 23 Almh tten (mountain huts) were destroyed by a large fire, the Alm owners jointly erected the first chapel in 1688 in honor of Mary, Queen of Heaven. Twice the chapel was destroyed by avalanches. The current chapel was built into a natural cave in 1870 so that it could no longer be destroyed by mountain disasters. A delicately shaped figure of the Mother of God Mary from the first chapel can still be admired today in the Felsenkapelle. Behind the bench next to the entrance door to the chapel, a foldable wheelchair ramp is provided. Careful handling is requested, as use is at your own risk!
